The Westview Lady Chargers closed out the 2024 regular season with a 2-1 over Crockett County Tuesday night in Alamo. Scoring was hard to come by in the match, despite the Lady Charges out shooting the Lady Cavaliers by a 10 to 1 margin.
In the 28th minute, sophomore Ashlee Brent found senior Maddie Horton sprinting into the box with a pinpoint pass. Horton handled the rest as she juked a defender and calmly put the ball in the back of the net for the first score.
Crockett County was able to tie the score ten minutes later when they fired several shots that were blocked by Westview goalkeeper Kella Simmons before a backside rebound and reboot got the Lady Cavs on the board.
The second half was all Westview on both ends of the pitch. Hayden Markowski scored on a pass from Horton in the 55th minute to take the lead, 2-1. The defense took over the rest of the way, and Crockett County was only able to mustered one shot in the second half.
With the win, Westview finishes the regular season 11-5-1, and will begin district tournament play next week. The Lady Chargers will host South Fulton on Tuesday, October 8th at the Martin Soccer Complex.
