A 13 year old girl has been indicted in the suffocation death of her 8-year-old cousin in Humboldt.

WREG reported La’Quvanah Parson, of Columbia, South Carolina was indicted Monday by a Gibson County grand jury and will be tried as an adult.

Parson is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the July 15th death of Demeria Hollingsworth, of Nashville.

The suffocation occurred in a bunk bed at their grandmother’s home in Humboldt, where they were staying for the summer.

Reports indicated the incident occurred due to an argument over an iPhone.

According to District Attorney General Frederick Agee, video evidence showed Parson suffocated Hollingsworth with bedding while she was asleep.

She then cleaned blood from the victims face and repositioned her body.
