The Tennessee Department of Labor says that the unemployment rate in nearly half of the state’s counties declined in August.
Sevier County recorded the state’s lowest unemployment rate with 2.5 percent, while Houston County had the highest at 5.7 percent.
The Martin metropolitan area saw a decrease in unemployment to 4.2 percent, along with the Union City area which saw a decrease to 4.1 percent.
