Kentucky State Police Honors Heroic Work for 2023

Kentucky State Police honored Troopers and officers during their annual awards ceremony.

Fifty-five members of the State Police were presented Sworn Awards for heroic acts of service in the state’s 120 counties.

During 2023, KSP responded to over 407,000 requests for assistance, while continuing the fight against the deadly drug epidemic, conducting welfare checks and assisting local law enforcement agencies.

State Police Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. commended the agency’s Troopers and officers for going above and beyond.

At Post 1 Mayfield, seven year detective Jay Dunn was presented the “Detective of the Year” award, while five year Trooper Casey Hamby was named the “Trooper of the Year”.

Kentucky State Police now has over 1,000 sworn personnel wearing the badge, which is the highest number since 2017.
