Dresden Mayor Mark Maddox appointed and the City Board concurred on naming Kenneth Gatewood to fill the unexpired term of Dale Hutcherson.
In a short meeting Mr. Gatewood will fill the position until the November election when a new alderman will serve on the board.
There were two candidates who had picked up a petition Benita Evans and Jennifer Schlict, Evans withdrew her petition leaving Schlict as the only candidate.
What that means is Ms. Schlict will be the next Dresden City Board member after Mr. Gatewood ends his term in early November.
Gatewood is a life-time resident of Weakley County and a long-time resident of Dresden. He is a veteran of Desert Storm. His past employment includes the Milan Arsenal Ammunition Plant and Volunteer Trucking from which he retired.
