Tennessee Seeing Effects on Crops from Dry Weather

The United States Department of Agriculture says dry weather has had an effect on some Tennessee crops.

The latest USDA report said corn production is now forecast at 101 million bushels, a decrease of 34-percent over last season’s crop.

Yield is estimated at 153 bushel-per-acre, down 20 bushels from 2023 numbers.

Tennessee cotton production is projected at 580,000 bales, which is a drop of 14-percent from last year.

Cotton yields are forecast to average 1,114 pounds per acre, which is a drop of 136 pounds in 2023.

The USDA report said soybean production is projected for a three-percent increase to 82.8 million bushels.

Yields are expected to be 46 bushels-per-acre, which is down five bushels from the last harvest.
