At the prestigious Smokey Mountain Classic the Westview Lady Chargers moved to the most competitive bracket in the event, after winning the silver grouping in 2023.
Game 1
Harding Academy-4
Westview- 0
The first match saw the Lady Chargers face Harding Academy out of Memphis. Shots on goal were difficult to find for both teams, as each only mustered nine each for the entire game. Harding took a 2-0 lead into the half and added two more in the second for the 4-0 win.
Game 2
Notre Dame (New York)- 2
Westview – 1
Westview took on a team from the Empire State on Saturday afternoon, losing the contest 2-1. The highly competitive contest was a defensive struggle, much like the first. Notre Dame, from Staten Island, jumped on the board quickly finding the back of the net just a few minutes in. The lead was extended a few minutes later, taking a 2-0 lead into the half. The Lady Chargers stiffened up the defense in the second and Ashlee Brent cut the lead to one with a goal in the 68th minute. Westview pushed the tempo over the final 12 minutes but were unable to draw even.
Westview falls to 8-5-1 on the season and will face Liberty Creek on Sunday at 9:30 EST.
