Pinpoint passing and aggressive defense propelled the Westview Lady Chargers to their first district win of the season, 6-0 Tuesday night over the McKenzie Lady Rebels.
Westview (8-2-1, 1-0) jumped on the board just three minutes into the match when a beautiful  pass by Cambry Hatler to Ashlee Brent led to one of Brent’s two, first half goals. Maddie Horton followed it up just two minutes later with her first of the night. Hatler found Brent again in the 29th minute, and Hayden Markowski finished the first half scoring with a goal of her own.
Horton picked up her second goal in the 56th minute to extend the lead, 5-0.
Alaina Uselton, who an hour earlier finished 3rd in the Huntingdon Cross Country meet for Westview, found her way to McKenzie and Ashlee Brent found her wide open as Uselton’s effort was rewarded with the final goal of the evening.
Tess Anderson, Harper Jones, Kaydence Papich, Hayden Swaim, Crislyn Warren, and Alyssa Williams once again controlled the backline. The Lady Rebels were unable to get anything going offensively with the Westview defense only allowing seven shots.
This was the Lady Charger’s 5th shutout of the season.
Westview will head to Gatlinburg Friday to compete in the Smokey Mountain Cup, a tournament they won last season.
