Union City fans arfe reminded tickets for Union City’s season-opening football game at Murray on Friday night can only be purchased via the GoFan app.
The cost of the tickets is $7 each, and fees will be added to that total. The direct link is https://gofan.co/event/1556489.
The contest will be played at Ty Holland Stadium, which is located at Murray Middle School (801 Main Street).
MHS administration has notified Union City officials that its school has a “cash-free” athletic department and will accept only credit cards for anything at its facilities.
Murray has also informed UC Principal/Athletic Director Jacob Cross that there would be no room for the Golden Tornado Marching Band and that visiting bands were traditionally not allowed to perform in Kentucky. No Tennessee passes will be honored at the admission gate.
Union City is coming off back-to-back state quarterfinal appearances and posted a 9-4 mark a year ago. Murray was 7-5 in 2023, beaten by eventual state champion and longtime rival Mayfield in the second round of the Kentucky playoffs.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. for the first meeting between the two programs since 1928. Union City leads the all-time series 4-2.
