Saturday will be the first day of squirrel season in Tennessee.
The opening day also coincides with “Free Hunting Day” in the state.
Residents will be allowed to hunt without a license, in hopes of increasing the interest in hunting.
Hunters can harvest a bag limit of 10 squirrels per day during the season, which will continue until March 15th.
In addition to the opening of squirrel season, there is a three day archery hunt for antlered deer on private lands and selected Wildlife Management Areas.
