Weakley County Moves Forward with Nursing Home Sale

The Weakley County Commission voted to proceed with the sale of the Weakley County Rehabilitation and Nursing Home to CCH Health Care.

CCH is offering $10.4 million to buy the nursing home from the county and they have agreed to keep the current staff employed there and maintain resident comfort. CCH currently operates 31 other nursing homes in Ohio and North Carolina.

CCH CEO Jacob Stern was at the commission meeting to answer questions.

The constant changes in regulations and upkeep regarding nursing homes are the main forces driving the commission to make the sale. Weakley County lost $725,000 in 2023 running the nursing home, but they were able to turn that into a $522,000 profit in 2024.

The Commission agreed that they do not have the required experience to keep the nursing home.

Interim County Mayor Dennis Doster days the sale is good for the county.

Now Weakley County will move into a negotiating phase with CCH Health Care. The County is expecting to pay about $500,000 in legal fees and commission on the sale.
