Funeral services will be held Sunday for longtime Union City physician Dr. Robert Clendenin Jr.
Dr. Clendenin passed away Tuesday at the age of 87.
Following his service as a Captain in the United States Army, which included a tour in Thailand, Dr. Clendenin began his practice in Union City in 1963.
Working as a Family Physician at the Doctors Clinic, Dr. Clendenin served the community until his retirement in 2001.
During his 38 years of service to countless families and individuals, Dr. Clendenin delivered approximately 3,000 babies and became among the first physicians in the country to become Board Certified in Family Medicine.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Clendenin was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, a deacon at First Baptist Church, an avid UT-Martin sports supporter, and acclaimed Reelfoot Lake wildlife photographer.
Services for Dr. Robert Clendenin will take place Sunday at 3:00 at First Baptist Church in Union City.
