A 12-year-old girl is being charged with first degree murder in Humboldt after she suffocated her eight-year-old cousin.
A security video of the incident obtained by Humboldt Police showed the girl used bedding to suffocate her cousin as she was sleeping. The girl then cleaned up the victim and repositioned her body.
The girl is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility in Rutherford County. District Attorney General Frederick Agee plans on requesting the judge transfer the suspect to adult court.
