The Murray State Racers had two players taken in this week’s Major League Baseball Draft.
Cade Vernon was selected in the 10th round by the San Francisco Giants, with Drew Vogel selected by the Houston Astros in Round 15.
Vernon was one of the top pitchers this spring in the Missouri Valley Conference, posting nine wins and a conference leading 83 strikeouts.
Vogel was a first team Missouri Valley Conference selection this year at shortstop.
He batted .339 with 77 hits, 20 home runs and 61 RBI’s.
This marks the first time since 1994 that Murray State has had two players taken in the same draft.
