A Union City woman was cited after two dogs were left in a hot car at Walmart.
Police reports said Animal Control was called to the West Reelfoot Avenue location, where they observed two large dogs in a BMW with heat index values of 100 degrees.
With the dogs panting very hard, police reports said the officer requested Walmart officials to use the intercom to contact the vehicle owners, Frank and Debra Scarborough.
While waiting at the car, Debra Scarbrough arrived from shopping and said the dogs were brought to town as a treat.
Due to the temperature and no water for the animals, Ms. Scarbrough was cited for animal cruelty and the two dogs were impounded.
