Big Lots Announces Plans to Close Some Stores This Year

Big Lots has announced their plans to close 35 to 40 stores by year’s end.

The announcement comes following a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

For the first quarter ending on May 4th, Big Lots announced a decrease in sales of one-billion dollars.

Although no specific closing locations have been announced at this point, several stores are in the local area.

The 47 stores in Tennessee includes locations in Union City, Dyersburg and Jackson.

In Kentucky, 40 locations includes stores in Mayfield, Murray and Paducah.

Big Lots was founded in 1967 and currently has 1,392 stores nationwide.
