Roadways in Tennessee are expected to be busy for the 4th of July holiday.

Triple-A is predicting record travel, with more than 1.4 million Tennesseans driving 50 miles or more during the holiday period.

The prediction is 63,500 more travelers on the roadways than last year.

Due to the projected increase, Triple-A spokesperson Megan Cooper said road travelers should prepare for congestion near larger metro areas, theme parks and popular attractions.

The 4th of July holiday travel period consists of nine days, starting on Saturday and continuing until Sunday, July 7th.
