Union City Council Approves New Firearms for Police Department

The Union City Police Department will soon be receiving new service weapons.

During this week’s City Council meeting, Police Chief Ben Yates requested the purchase of 40 new firearms for the officers.(AUDIO)

 

Chief Yates said the new firearms will be funded through the Drug Fund at a cost of $37,308.

Mayor Terry Hailey asked about the existing guns being used.(AUDIO)

 

Council members voted unanimously to make the purchase from Craig’s Firearms in Knoxville, who have the state contract.
