A Union City man was arrested on sex offender charges.
Union City police reports said officers were made aware that 58 year old Walter William Hitzeman was located within 1000 feet of a school property line.
The police report said Hitzeman was actively on probation and listed as a violent sex offender.
Officers located Hitzeman at the Church of God on South Miles Avenue, where he had received permission to stay due to being homeless.
The adjoining school property did have multiple kids in teams within view of the church.
Police took Hitzeman into custody on charges of violating the sex offender registry.
