The Martin Board of Alderman and Mayor has selected a new Chief of Police.
During Monday’s meeting, board members voted unanimously in their selection of Phillip Fuqua to lead the police department.
Fuqua is currently the city’s Assistant Chief of Police, and will succeed Chief Don Teal, who will be retiring on July 5th following 41 years of service.
Fuqua is a Martin native and 1988 graduate of Westview High School.
He holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of FBI National Academy and the Southeastern Command and Leadership Academy.
Fuqua has served with the Martin Police Department for 23 years in various positions, and will assume the Chief of Police position on July 6th.
