The Martin City Board passed its first budget hearing with no tax increase Monday evening. Mayor Randy Brundige said the city will have a second reading on budget amendments and the 26 million dollar budget June 28th at noon.
Inside the budget the board approved full time city employees to receive a $1200 annual increase and also a $500 Christmas gift to full time employees.
Martin city employees will be off on Friday July 5th with pay allowing the city to treat the day as a “holiday.” Those who have to work on the on July 5th will be paid time and a half.
Also the city has updated its travel policy for better documentation and it adopted the state’s policy to allow the city to make purchases without bidding by going through state contract.
The board also approved, on second reading, two zoning matters. One on Parrish Road and one on Highway 431.. both from business to residential.
