The Union City boys’ basketball program celebrated its 2023-24 season with a recently held banquet that honored several members of the Tornadoes’ state tournament team.
Union City won 29 games, including 17 straight, on the way to the program’s 20th all-time state tourney appearance. The Twisters lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Chattanooga Prep.
Class A Mr. Basketball finalist and Walters State signee Malaki Brooks was lauded for leading the Tornadoes in six individual statistical categories. Brooks, who also earned All-State accolades given by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, finished his decorated prep career with 1,865 points.
