Rains causes havoc again for Union City

Heavy rains caused more havoc in Union City Friday, causing motorists and community members to tread water around Hoosier Creek after some four inches of rain fell.

Flooding around Westgate Drive, Reelfoot Avenue, residential streets and Lowes sent people scrambling to get away from the flood waters.

Emergency Management Director Danny Jowers said the problem will continue until something can be done with the infrastructure.

Mr. Jowers said I-690, Hoosier Creek and Reelfoot Avenue essentially become a watershed that then overflows and causes the flooding.
