The Obion County Sheriff’s Office began their “Click It or Ticket” campaign today.

The Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for an increased seat belt enforcement.

During the 2023 calendar year, there were 44 reported injuries in Obion County as a result of occupants not wearing a seatbelt during a crash.

Captain Scott Watkins said the ultimate goal of the campaign was to not issue citations, but to increase safety and awareness to help reduce injuries.

Through June 2nd, officers will be taking a no excuse approach to seat belt law enforcement, with citations issued to those who are not buckled up.
