Union City firefighters provide a much needed service to residents outside of the city limits.

With the cost of operating the full time fire department increasing dramatically, Chief Ullrich said the subscription program was necessary in providing outside coverage.(AUDIO)
The chief said approximately half of their fire calls come from outside the city limits of Union City.
