Investigation Continues Into Fatal Fire in South Fulton

An investigation continues into a fatal fire on Friday night in South Fulton.

Fire Chief John Curtis said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was contacted to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Chief Curtis said just after 10:00, firefighters responded to 202 Forestdale Avenue, where a single story dwelling had flames coming through the roof and multiple sides.

At the scene, fire personnel were informed by bystanders of individuals still in the home.

Crew members then entered the structure and located an adult female, who was rescued and transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

The victim was later pronounced deceased at the emergency room.

A minor inside the home was also rescued and flown by air ambulance to the Vanderbilt Medical Center for severe burns.

Multiple agencies assisted at the fire scene, including fire departments from Fulton, Union City and Martin, along with South Fulton Public Works, South Fulton Police Department, Obion County Sheriffs Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Weakley County Municipal Electric System.
