A federal grand jury in Memphis has indicted a former Memphis police officer.
An eight count indictment charged former officer Patric J. Ferguson with counts that included federal civil rights, kidnapping and weapons offenses.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of a victim identified as R.H.
The indictment also charged a civilian, Joshua M. Rogers, with federal offenses for conspiring to cover up the fatal shooting and destroying evidence.
The indictment said on or about January 5th of 2021, officer Ferguson kidnapped and fatally shot the victim in the head.
Ferguson then allegedly conspired with Rogers to cover up the shooting by disposing of the victims body in the Wolf River in Memphis.
The indictment also alleges Rogers disposed of the car used to transport the victim’s body by selling the car at a scrap metal dealership.
