Carlisle County Sheriff Announces Plans to Step Down

A Western Kentucky Sheriff has announced his plans to step down.

In a Facebook post, Carlisle County Sheriff Will Gilbert said he will be leaving the elected position at the end of May.

Gilbert said due to health related issues that must be addressed, he will leave the position after five years.

When speaking with Carlisle County Judge Executive Greg Terry, Gilbert recommended Chief Deputy Eric Perry to assume the position until an election can be held.

Perry has served in the Sheriff’s Office for 14 years.
