The TSSAA has honored a longtime high school baseball umpire from Halls.
After more than three decades on the baseball field, Jimmy Meeks has been recognized as a TSSAA ”Distinguished Service Award” winner.
Meeks is a UT-Martin graduate, who has also spent 20 years as a college baseball umpire.
Meeks recently retired from his more than 39 years in public education, which included high school head football coaching stops in Bolivar and Covington, assistant football coach at Halls, along with the role as assistant principal and transportation supervisor.
During his umpiring career, Meeks has also worked six TSSAA State Baseball Championships, and has served as the site supervisor for the baseball Spring Fling the past decade.
