Weakley Republicans May Caucus Tonite at 6pm

It’s likely you may have a hard time finding a place to park in downtown Martin this evening.

The Weakley County Republican Party may move to have a caucus which could lead to a nominee to be placed on the ballot for the office of Weakley County Mayor. The Republican Party will meet at 6pm this evening.

If there is a nominee there would only be one Republican candidate on the ballot. Other Republicans who may wish to run would have to choose to be placed on the ballot as an independent candidate.  The party does not have to caucus to nominate a candidate.

If there is no Weakley County Republican caucus any candidate could choose to run for the office as a Republican and have an “R” beside their name.

Candidates can run as Democrat or Independent or Republican if there is no nomination from the Weakley County Republican Party.

Weakley County Mayor Jake Bynum is stepping down April 30th which opens up the position since there will be vacate and qualified candidates could seek the office.
