Addison Carr and Maddie Smith twirled no-hitters as Union City blanked Greenfield 10-0 and 15-0 in a District 14A softball doubleheader Tuesday at Eddlemon-Hawks Field.
School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said Carr recorded nine of 12 outs via the strikeout in the opener, while Smith was perfect in the three-inning nightcap with four strikeouts.
Kennedi Robinson and Kylie Mayes went 2-for-3 in Game 1 for the Tornadoes, while Marlee Theobald drove in a pair of runs. Clare Atwill scored three times, and Smith crossed the dish twice for Union City.
The Twisters (9-11, 7-1) made the most of six hits in the second game, helped by six Greenfield walks and three Yellowjacket errors.
Smith helped herself with a double, single, three ribbies, and three runs scored. Theobald and Emmaline Qualls also scored three times, while Robinson had two hits and a pair of RBIs.
