Union City Beats Bradford in Thursday Baseball

Will Ragsdale was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the eighth, forcing home Copeland Chism with the deciding run to give the Tornadoes a non-district win against Bradford.

Union City is now (14-8) heading into today’s District 14A showdown at league-leading Dresden.

The Twisters outhit Bradford 8-3 Tuesday, but left 10 runners on base.

Skyler Hall went 2-for-3 and reached base a third time with a walk. Chism scored two of Union City’s three runs, and Will Ragsdale and Ben Kail had the Tornadoes’ other two RBIs.

Kyler Southerland was impressive with 6 2/3 innings as Union City’s starter, giving up just one earned run while fanning seven. Troy Joslin (5-2) recorded four outs in relief – two of those by strikeout – to get credit for the victory.
