For the third straight season, the Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship trophy will reside at the University of Tennessee at Martin as the Skyhawks added two more wins on the final day of the regular season.
UT Martin came through with a 4-1 victory over Tennessee Tech Saturday afternoon before officially clinching its hardware with a 5-0 sweep against Lindenwood that evening. With those victories, the Skyhawks improved to 9-1 in the league standings and will enter next week’s OVC Championship tournament as the No. 1 seed.
The Skyhawks receive a first-round bye in the OVC Championship tournament, which will be held on Thursday through Saturday on the campus of Morehead State University. UT Martin’s first match in the event will take place at 1 on Thursday as the Skyhawks will take on the winner of the No. 4 seed Morehead State/No. 5 seed Tennessee Tech matchup.
