Union City Middle School tennis swept Obion County Monday, pitching a shutout in both girls’ and boys’ play.
The Lady Tornadoes cruised to a 7-0 triumph, while the Union City boys were victorious in all three of their matches.
Emma Jane Rice, Blythe Ogden, Stella Turner, and Rylan Ali Bondurant each won in singles and doubles competitions. Phoebe Coleman’s singles triumph represented the Union City girls’ seventh win.
Union City was also triumphant in matches that did not count in the final score as Averi Riley and Marley Waddell cruised in singles, while Coleman and Riley combined to win in doubles.
The Twister boys did not surrender a single game. Kipton Powers and Camden Dawkins posted 6-0 victories in individual matches and then teamed up to claim a doubles triumph by the same score.
Union City will be at home again Tuesday, hosting Dyersburg.
