Union City and Martin Theaters Awarded Historic Grant Funds

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development has announced recipients of Historic Development Grants.

Included in the $6-million dollars of funding is the Capitol Theater, in downtown Union City, and Dynamix Physical Therapy in Weakley County.

The Capitol Theater was awarded $68,000 for rehabilitation, while Dynamix Physical Therapy was awarded $10,000 for rehabilitation of the Varsity Theater in Martin.

Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter said the funding is to assist in preserving and revitalizing some of the state’s most historic and notable buildings.

Twenty-six properties were awarded the grant funding statewide to again promote commerce and tourism.
