A recent email made a Union City High School students college decision very easy.

School Communications Director Mike Hutchens  said senior Ella Palmer was named the recipient of the prestigious “Distinguished Tennessean Scholarship Award” for Obion County.

The award provides full tuition and mandatory fees to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for four years.

Palmer said UT was always a top option, but the news swayed her to choose the campus in Knoxville.

The “Distinguished Tennessean Scholarship Award” is awarded to one student in each of Tennessee’s 95 counties.

Palmer has been a member of the academic Top-10 in all four years at Union City, and is also a member of the 30-plus ACT Club.
