Ainsley Sadler set a new Union City Middle School girls’ program record in the mile run by posting a time of 6:17 in a Monday afternoon meet at Dyersburg.
Sadler’s feat helped the Lady Tornadoes finish third in the five-team meet, behind the champion host team and Ripley, and ahead of Northview and Three Oaks.
Union City totaled 69 points as a team.
Ainsley Beard had a first-place showing in the 400 meters for the Twister girls, while the 4X400 relay team also came in first.
The Union City boys tied Northview for runner-up honors to Dyersburg by totaling 46 points.
B.J. Boyd won the 100-meter dash to highlight the Tornadoes’ performance.
Weather permitting, Union City will host its final meet of the season on Thursday.
