The Tennessee Appellate Court affirmed an Obion County jury who convicted Tony Mosley of Union City. The higher court agreed with the jury that Mosely was rightfully found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 20 year old Decora Alexander of South Fulton. The case was investigated by the Union City Police Department.
Mosley received a sentence of twenty-five years in confinement. Miss Alexander was 20 years old and a Freshman at UT Martin and was on the UTM Dance Team when she died at her ex-boyfriend’s home.
At the time of the crime, Mosely was serving a four-year probation sentence for an offense involving the same victim, which was subsequently violated and ordered to be served consecutively, for an effective sentence of twenty-nine years’ in prison. The Appellate Court found no error at the trial and affirmed the trial court’s decision and the sentence was correct.
Mosley’s attorneys argued on appeal that the trial court erred in a number of decisions of which they agreed with the convictions and sentence denying the Appellant’s motion to dismiss for lack of a speedy trial; that evidence was insufficient to support his conviction; the trial court erred in not charging the jury with self-defense; that the trial court erred in allowing the testimony of the Appellant’s probation officer at trial; that the trial court erred in admitting photographs from the crime scene and a life-in-being photograph into evidence; that the trial court imposed an excessive sentence without consideration of the Appellant’s mitigation proof; and that the trial court’s cumulative errors necessitated a new trial. The Tennessee Court of Appeals found no reversible error and affirm the judgment of the trial court.
