A South Fulton student has been named the state’s lone recipient of a scholarship from the Tennessee Senior Beta Club.
Obion County Schools Communications Director Lauren Kendall said Daniel Pitts was selected to receive the $10,000 Dale R. Hughes Scholarship.
Pitts has been active in the Beta Club through middle and high school, serving several hundred hours on volunteer service projects.
He will be competing at the Senior National Beta Convention in June at Savannah, Georgia.
Pitts won the Dale R. Hughes Leadership Award in 2022, and was awarded a $1,000 National Beta Club Scholarship in February.
He plans to attend the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga to study in Engineering.
Daniel is the son of Matthew and Laura Pitts, of Troy.
