Coach Ryan Ridder announces resignation; accepts position at Mercer University

UT Martin’s men’s basketball coach Ryan Ridder is heading to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia after submitting his resignation Friday.

Athletics’ Director Kurt McGuffin complimented

the efforts of the program and will begin a nationwide search to fill the basketball position.

Coach Ridder increased UT Martin’s win totals in each of his three years at the helm, concluding with 21 wins in 2023-24 tying a school record for most regular season wins.

Ridder oversaw seven All-OVC honorees, nine

OVC Players of the Week and 14 OVC Newcomer of the Week recipients at UT Martin.

As head coach he was 48-47 overall and is 191-120 in 10 years as a collegiate head coach.

The Skyhawk men’s team lost in the semi finals of the OVC tournament last week.
