The Union City Golden Tornadoes had their basketball season come to an end on Wednesday at the TSSAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro.
Chattanooga Prep used a strong second half to beat Union City 85-53 in Class-A play at the Murphy Center.
Despite a sluggish first half, the Golden Tornadoes rallied to trail only 32-28 at halftime.
In the second half, Chattanooga Prep outscored Union City 52-25 to advance in tournament play.
Mr. Basketball finalist Malaki Brooks led all scorers in the game with 37 points.
Brooks tournament effort included 19-of-25 from the free throw line.
Ben Kail had 7 points for Union City, followed by C.J. Davis 3, Jack Tully 2, Joseph Lattus 2 and Adrian Crawford 2.
Coach Shane Sisco’s team shot 34.1-percent from the field and made 5-of-23 shots from outside the three point arc.
Union City ends their year with a record of (29-6).
