Three West Tennessee girls’ basketball players were named Miss Basketball during the Mr. and Miss Basketball awards at MTSU yesterday.
Freshman Haylen Ayers of U S J was named Miss Basketball in Class A in Division Two. She is the daughter of Ashley and Joel Ayers of Martin.
In Class-A McKenzie’s Savannah Davis received the honor of Miss Basketball and in Class 2-A Micah Hart of Gibson County was named Miss Basketball.
Ayers of U S J and Hart of Gibson County both helped their teams to win state championships this year.
No West Tennessee boys were named Mr. Basketball.
A statewide committee of sportswriters selected the winners based on performance during the 2023-2024 regular season. Academics and character were also taken into consideration.
It was the 39th year that the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards have been presented to Tennessee’s best high school basketball players.
