The AP reports the Southern Baptist Convention’s top administrative body has ousted four congregations. One church violated SBC policy by having a woman as senior minister.
Two others were accused of going against the denomination’s sexual abuse police. And another was removed for its lack of financial participation.
The SBC’s Executive Committee announced the decision after a closed-door session at the end of its two-day meeting in Nashville. These are the latest in a series of expulsions in recent years.
The churches located in Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina, have the right of appeal to the full annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention in June in Indianapolis.
