Obion County Farmer Takes First Place in State Soybean Contest

Winners have been announced for the 2023 “Tennessee Top Soybean Yield Contest”.

Over 50 entries were submitted from across the state for the latest competition.

The event included a first place win for Obion County farmer Kenneth Barnes.

In the District 1 “Non-Irrigated” category, Barnes took first place honors with 100.4 bushels-per-acre.

Second place in the category went to John Chester, of Weakley County, who recorded 94.5 bushels-per-acre.

In the “Non-Irrigated” category in District 3, Ben Moore, of Henry County, won first place with 95.5 bushels-per-acre, with Chris Frazier, of Henry County, placing second with 94.4 bushels-per-acre.

The event was sponsored by the Tennessee Soybean Promotion Board.
