The new Obion County State Route 690 loop around Union City will open for travel Wednesday.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation will have crews on site to make the transition from the current roadway to a new roadway direction.
The section of roadway, from west of State Route 21 to south of State Route 5, has taken multiple projects over a decade and an investment of over $220 million dollars.
The U.S.51 interchange with U.S.45 in Tennessee, stretching into Kentucky, is identified for funding in TDOT’s 10-year Project Plan.
Once completed, the future I-69 in Tennessee will connect with the future I-69 in Kentucky.
