A proposed bill would create new school protocol in active shooter situations.
Introduced in August, House Bill 7002, was filled following the Covenant School shooting in Nashville.
House majority leader Lamberth and Portland have been working on the bill with Erin Kinney, one of the victims mother.
Ms. Kinney’s 9-year-old son William Kinney was killed while trying to evacuate after the shooter pulled the fire alarm.
Under the bill, schools would have to develop a plan that would confirm there is an actual fire and not an active shooter before evacuating.
