Local residents will learn Friday morning if an early Spring is coming, or we have an extended period of Winter.
Groundhog Day will take place, with the most popular ceremonies taking place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
Up to 40,000 people will be on hand to see if the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, will see his shadow.
The tradition dates back to the 1800’s, where the folklore of six additional weeks of winter will come if the groundhog sees his shadow.
Should he not see his shadow, Spring will arrive early.
