This Friday night, the Greenfield Yellow Jackets will celebrate their 40th anniversary of the 1984 Boys State Basketball Championship.
Recognition will take place at half time of the Greenfield-South Fulton game.
The Yellow Jackets defeated the Bolton Wildcats 69-63 to claim the boys’ only state championship in Greenfield history.

The 1984 Greenfield Yellow Jackets were the first team to win a state championship in Weakley County.
It would be 36 years later before the Greenfield girls would win a state championship defeating Summertown 47 to 39.
