Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has announced an updated bill to protect the music industry from misuse of artificial intelligence.
The Governor’s “Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security” or ELVIS Act, is the first of its kind in the nation to protect against adding “voice” to someone’s likeness.
The bill is to protect songwriters, performers, and the voices of music industry professionals.
Governor Lee said artists and musicians at all levels are facing exploitation, and the theft of their integrity, identity and humanity, with the human impersonations and fake works.
The Nashville Songwriters Association applauded the bill by Governor Lee, saying Artificial Intelligence has resulted in fake recordings not authorized by the artists.
