An historic day for the Blue Light Hunger Fight with over $4,000 in cash and checks and just under 14 hundred food items to to help fill the pantry of We Care Ministries in Martin.
Martin Police and Thunderbolt Radio teamed up for our 12th annual event accepting donations for twelve straight hours downtown while squad cars ran their blue lights through out the day period.
Martin Police Captain Eric Reed said it was generous outpouring money and food items
Captain Reed said even those persons who struggled to meet needs wanted to help with whatever means they could.
Those who want to continue to help the hungry with donations and non perishable food items are enouraged to attend the Santa’s Village at the Ned McWherter Ag Center on the UT Martin Campus sponsored by Martin Parks and Recreation.
The final total $4,526 and 1,369 perishable food items. Thunderbolt Radio and Digital President Paul Tinkle said “I’m so proud of our relationship with the Martin Police Department. Our special thanks to Captain Reed, Codes Enforcement Kenny Edwards, and out team including Robert Leyhue, Kevin Bartholemew, Steve James, along with other Martin Police officers and Thunderbolt team members who worked behind the scenes to make this such a powerful impact on fighting poverty.” Tinkle went on to say, “God has been awfully good to all of us and its opportunities like these that brings our communities together.”
